Perception Is Reality

If you ever participated in one of my ‘Make Listening Work’ presentations or workshops, you probably heard me having fun with one of my favorite tongue twisters:

‘I think I remember what I thought I heard you say, but I’m not sure if what I think I remember hearing you say is what you remember meaning  to say.’

This comment underscores the shared responsibility of the speaker and the listener when listening doesn’t work. Both people broke the process, but both people can fix it.
