I love Caller ID – I really do. Here’s why – my business phone is a simple residential line and the number is published. Yes … I still have a land line.
Our personal phone number – also on a land line – is unpublished. If I have to indicate a number to cal for some transactions , it’s that one as well. So, I get a lot of junk calls on my business line.
I never answer the business phone unless Caller ID indicates it’s someone I know or expect. My operational assumption is that legitimate business callers will leave a voice mail message.
If you ever called my office, Caller ID indicated ‘unknown’, ‘invalid’ or or something like that and you didn’t leave a message, that’s why I never called you back. Duhhh! Caller ID helps me separate the sheep from the creeps … and I love it for doing that for me.
