Not only do we humans have different communication styles, we have different Learning Styles that influence how we prefer to take in information. So, if you’re creating an informational presentation or delivering training, try to appeal to all three types of learners:
- Visual Learners – learn by seeing, watching or reading. They do best with visual aids, props, slides, handouts, etc.
- Auditory Learners – learn by listening to you describe a process or telling them what to do. They do best when your voice is louder, slower, more animated and interesting with frequent pauses for them to digest and internalize.
- Sensory Learners – learn by touching, doing something, getting their hands on things. They do best when they’re engaged, writing, participating in games or role- plays, even standing and moving around the room.
