A reporter recently asked how entrepreneurs can expand their network of professional advisors. My thoughts:
1. Identify five content areas you’re weak in or have no expertise, like finance, marketing or social media.
2. Network to find like-minded people with these skill sets who would be willing to serve on an informal advisory group.
3. Regularly interact with them individually and as a group to tap into their expertise and help hold you accountable for change.
4. And remember that what goes around comes around. Also reach out to five colleagues who would benefit from your experience and expertise and offer to be one of their advisors.
You can’t know everything you need to know to run your business. But, you can find colleagues to help you learn what you don’t know.
